I/O lists define real world points. I/O lists typically define the I/O point, tag type, input or output range, expected value, alarm settings and engineering units. I/O lists are used with the narrative and the P&ID to write the code used for use by the controller. Virtual I/O points used by control system are often included on I/O lists.
