We are currently seeking people to fill the following positions:

Position: Electrical Engineer for Commercial Clients

Education

BS in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology

Licensed PE in the state of Indiana preferred but not required.

LEED AP a plus

Experience

Minimum of 5 years experience in consulting engineering or practical/construction experience in commercial/light industrial buildings

Salary

Negotiable and commensurate with applicable experience

Responsibilities

The applicant should possess the ability to assist clients in identifying or further defining a problem, conceptualize multiple solutions, and present to the client. The successful applicant should be able to put into practice the desired solution through a concisely engineered project package.

The ability to work within a project team as well as direct the work of others is necessary.

Successful applicant must be able to demonstrate acquired skills in the following areas:

  • Engineering experience in a commercial environment is required
  • Consulting engineering experience a plus
  • Working knowledge of power and lighting systems and how they apply to commercial installations
  • The capability to conduct on-site surveys to establish and document accurate field conditions
  • The skills necessary to attend and conduct client meetings and to confirm client requirements and expectations
  • Work with clients to develop detailed scope of projects
  • Direct drafting personnel to develop project documents
  • Take an active role in field investigations required for project development
  • Ability to perform own drafting is desirable
  • Direct drafting personnel in developing final construction drawings
  • Work and closely coordinate with other departments throughout the entire project
  • Develop construction documents, scopes of work, schedules, etc., for contractor bid packages
  • Develop engineering and construction probable cost estimates
  • Monitor construction activities to assure adequate quality for clients
  • Proficient in AutoCAD a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel required

 

Position: Structural Engineer

Professional Engineering (P.E.) license is a requirement.  S.E. license in state of Illinois a plus, but not required

Experience

Minimum of 5 -10 years experience in the structural design field

Practical working experience in the structural design field for either a Consulting Engineering firm, Contractor's office, or Architect's office

Experience in structural design for manufacturing industries (Toyota, BMS) and heavy industries (Vectren, Alcan, Alcoa) as well as the knowledge and skills to design foundation/framing systems for free-standing architectural buildings.

The candidate needs to be a self-starter, capable of leading project teams, and have the ability to communicate well between the various players of a construction project: owner, contractor, suppliers, and design team.

Salary

Negotiable and commensurate with structural design experience

 Responsibilities

Successful applicant must be able to demonstrate the following job skills and responsibilities:

  • Utilize computer design software for design.  Includes knowledge of building construction materials, general connection types used in construction, brace & moment frame design.
  • The ability to interpret and apply the structural sections of the building code. (i.e. Seismic, wind and snow drift loading)
  • Design and layout of commercial and industrial building systems including foundations.
  • Detailed design of steel, concrete, concrete block and other common structural materials for building projects.
  • Knowledge of construction estimating would be a plus, but not required.
  • Development of construction document packages based on the project requirements and application.  This shall include project coordination with other disciplines (mechanical, architectural, & electrical), directing drafting personnel, and checking project construction documents.
  • Review of job specific material specifications.
  • Attending client meetings in order to clearly understand job/owner requirements and expectations.  Includes, project review meetings, construction meetings, and project closeout meetings.
  • Project shop drawing and submittal review.
  • On-site inspections of structural system installations.
